Engraved Powder Horn

I finished the engraving on this guy a couple days ago. It’s nice to be able to wrap things up and get it off my table. On to the next project!

That's really nice.  Good job.
Those darn spirals on the nose always got me, so I seldom did anything like that.
You know, do what you do, do well.
The rest of it - just avoid.
I like the motto on the horn.  Nice touch.

Thanks, guys. I can’t take credit for the horn: that was made by the other, other John over at October Country. I’d like to start making my own horns here soon, and I’m in the process of picking up a wood lathe to start turning bases and making stoppers.

I had completed the band on the horn and was looking for inspiration in terms of an inscription to include, so I slept on it… for a couple weeks. I was watching the movie “Fury” with the wife and that verse was alluded to by one of the characters. I was previously aware of it, but the scene jogged my memory.

Great movie, beautiful horn.
Lord, make my words as sweet as honey for tomorrow I may have to eat them.  Amen
