Me, I network my friends, acquaintances and members of clubs I belong to. I ASK for stuff others feel are of no use to them. I was told, and learned years ago, you can ask; all they can do is say, "NO"! Cost to you $0.00 but if the answer is yes, you're going to get working. One of my best gets was from a friends uncle who closed a auto repair and refurbish business. He gave (my nameless to you friend) him 20+square ft of seat covering, blonde leather. I had replaced a TV with a larger,newer4 one, and gave my friend the old one. He gave me the leather; he said because he had no use for it. It takes dyes well. Still have some & use it. Everyone buys & eat turkeys, chickens or ribs. I'll bet you throw those small bones in the waste can! Shame. You and guys you know or processors may let you have the legs and bones from processing, if you ask and even tell them why you want them. They pay a trash collector to dispose of them while you can take a small amount away for free. You can take the cut offs and cut to make small shapes for inlay, scrimshaw etc. It's all a matter of asking. Don't feel bad if you are refused; move on to the next potential source...and so on. God gave us minds. Those create imagination. Use it.
