Traditions Kentuckey not pinned right

I'm working on a Trad. two piece stock. The kid that put it together didn't install the barrel pins right . The one closest to the end cap keeps the stock gapped about 1/16 inch off the barrel.
This and many more questions to come.

With no pin in,if you hold barrel tight in channel,is the hole located in the wood wrong or is the hole in the lug too low?If the hole in the wood is ok,then I think you would have to put in a new lug and re drill or maybe? braze the hole shut and redrill? If the hole in the wood is way off I think you'd have to fill it with a dowel and redrill.I've only done one of those (last summer).Good luck,take yer time, ridjrunr

The holes in the wood are a good bit off.
What is a good source for dowels?
The holes are about 1/8".

You can get wooden dowel rods 1/8" and up, at the big box hardware stores
I redid one that was so bad it took a 5/16" rod to get the hole filled  :shock:
