Rifle sights and shooting.
« on: September 18, 2013, 02:06:19 PM »
Having reached my so-called "Golden Years' in my mid 70's, and firing thousands upon thousands of rounds down range, I have come to the following conclusion, which I offer as "lessons learned"....

All Rifle Sights are based on the Ouija Board Principal!
This principal transfers human energy into a strong, unpredictable force, whereas the more you attempt to influence that force, the more unpredictable the shot becomes.

To prove my point, just think back to the last time you were in a shoot-off.
The harder you tried to control the "wobble factor" the worse it became.

That's my story and I stickin to it!
There is little room for doubt, so the mystery is now solved.
Brothers sse, and Two-Steps can now stop wondering about the "why" of it all, it's pretty clean cut, IMHO.

Uncle Russ...
It's the many things we don't do that totally sets us apart.

Like many things in order to do your best you have to enter the "zone"; and that requires relaxation.  Of course you have to be able to see in the first place which is the problem with us old codgers.  :hairy

I swear , sometimes I think Im getting palsy  or something

Last weekend I shot  my smoothbore on the very same trail as I did my rifle . Shot far better with my smoothie then my rifle .
Rifle score I was only in the top 20 . Smoothbore I took first  with a score that would have put me in the top 10  rifle shooters . Go figure
Its not the sights im having trouble seeing . It just seems that  as the targets get bigger  so does the spot im trying to hit .
Now if only that blasted wind would quit blowing every time its my turn to shoot   :hairy

Unc Russ, to shoot a bow with skill, Bryon Ferguson, says you must "become the arrow." Well I tried that with my flinter, an' he's right, I became the bullet and sure 'nuff I'm shot.  ;)

I made it to my mid 60's and feel a bit wiser :toast
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
