Fat Mountain Rifle

I guess this could go under either caplock or flint, but I recently bought a stock that had a caplock in it, so...

Has anyone ever seen a "fat" CVA Mountain Rifle? By fat, I mean the wood is thick and then reduced to the proper thickness at the wedge plates,  nose, etc. This is from a .58. It also looks like the buttplate and trigger guard were possibly a nickel or chrome-type finish, though it is pretty well worn. I think I have seen that on mountain rifles before, but I don't recall seeing the "fat" stock. I'm thinking it may have been a kit...

Any ideas?

It was an early kit that wasn't finished properly. They sent them with A LOT of wood so they could be somewhat custom fit to you. Not every one did it though,hurry up and finish that thing and let's go shoot!!!!!

I think Pathfinder is right...seen it a few times myself, where the guy was in such a hurry he actually "threw it" together, and it when it shot good he never got around to finishing it the way it should be.

Such a rifle should give you the opportunity to finish it the way you want though....that particular rifle should be lean and mean, not just fat and happy.
