Draw Weight Change??

Recently bought a longbow for my youngest Bekah and the draw weight is too much for her.   :oops:

Would it be better for a novice like me to try and work it down to where she can pull it, or just get her another bow with a lighter pull and let her work her way up to the higher one?

I would not try to work it down.  I tried that on a bow recently but the belly had crisaled.  The limb then cracked.

I would get a lighter one and have her work up for a while.  Maybe you could trade or sell the heavy one, but usually you lose on trade deals.

Fletcher is spot on with this one. Reducing the weight, while keeping the old bow properly tillered would take some work and may not pan out at all.

Yeah I think we are gonna go ahead and get her another bow.  That way when she outgrows it she can pass it down to one of her younger cousins.

What is the bow made of...wood, glass, longbow or recurve? Is it an old bow or a new one?

An all wood bow may be taken down, but is tricky.  Depnds on the species of wood, how it was finished and the moisture content when completed.

PM me if you are interested in another wood bow.  I have quite a few on hand and can work one for you if not what I have.

I am about 80% on Indiana's second bow.  The first one 'blew up' in my hand with no visble defects and it was Osage Orange with less than 10% moisture as deep as I could measure it.

After that one I need to get a bunch of bows made for the upcoming Trade Show season.
