Pheasants Forever Knife
« on: March 08, 2011, 06:47:13 AM »
This is a knife I made for the Pheasants Forever Annual banquet. This is the third year I have made a knife for this organization. This is the first sheath I have done any tooling on so please offer your honest critizism.

O1 blade 59Rc. file worked spine, hand finished to 800 grit.
Oak Diamondwood scales finished to 2000 grit, and rubbed with paste wax.

Let me know what you think.

I made the sheath on Sunday, and from start to finish it took me 7 hours. The knife will be auctioned off.

Very nice job Brian, tooling a basket weave and getting it "rite" is not an easy accomplishment, you hit it dead on, oh yea, the knifes a winner too!, look out Wick! there's a new kid in town! :clap  :clap

1  question, did you burnish the edge of the sheath?

I don't know about all that. I'm not sure I will ever make his level of craftsmanship, but that is what I strive for.

Yes I did burnish the edge. I used a piece of smooth deer antler, and rubbed the heck out of the edge with it.

Gotta agree with Gordy.  That is a nice piece of work.

I like those dimensions too! I wouldn't care too much about actually working such a nice blade, but if a fella had the mind to, that is the exact size I would prefer.

Great job, Brian :rt th
