New backpack and spoon from Larry Callahan
« on: July 21, 2014, 08:19:16 PM »
Just got a two strap backpack and forged spoon from Larry Callahan. Not pictured is a lead ladle that was included in today's packages.  A week ago Larry had made me a bag mold, forged fork, spring vise, multi-tool and primitive pliers so I needed something to keep all this inside.  The pack is beeswaxed and has a leather reinforced bottom with forged buckles on the adjustable straps.  Very well made.  You can also see the personalized horn that Rick Froelich made me a couple weeks ago that is awaiting an Inkle loomed strap.

Well, some of this will be used during the upcoming deer season but that will be far from primitive conditions in a tin teepee but someday when my feet are healed up completely I'm going to do a period correct overnight trek and cast some RB by the campfire, just to be able to say that I did it.  I had a little infection back in December that I'm still recovering from and I've got one more surgical procedure on my feet before I can do that.  So being the big Boy Scout that I am, I'm preparing for the future one unnecessary accoutrement at a time.

Nice looking Bag - what size is it (length, width, height and deep - front to back) and the cost?

Thanks Thunderhawk1828

Thanks Thunderhawk1828

It's about 13 inch top to bottom, 15 inches wide and could expand to maybe 5 inches deep depending on how you packed it.  I don't remember exactly how much the backpack was but it's made of heavy, beeswaxed linen, leather straps, hand forged buckles and thick leather bottom.  Very stout and worth what I paid for it.
