for the most part, my family and local friends are all well - so far. i expect that to change over the coming weeks. it is what it is.
lots depends on the state yer in - and i don't mean personal state of body and mind.
my state is NJ, and is a bastion of left-wing socialists lead by an elitist governor who is more tyrant than politician. i doubt there is a more anti-gun state than the swamps of jersey.
there are Huge Lessons for our nation to learn from this attack, both from government and citizen standpoints.
the mainstream media is the clear and present cause for the panic scare perpetrated to all Americans, supported and egged on by certain politicians. all sensationalism and little fact. they ALL need to be brought to task for their actions, but never will, as we've seen countless times in the past. when you have lots of money, you have power, and when you have power, you have what's most important - Control.
most people don't understand what a virus is all about, and neither do most biologist scientists, but we DO know that what we DON'T know will kill us sure and quick. all that we can do is be personally and socially responsible, and all that will do is slow down the cases of infection, which is a good thing so that not everyone is down for the count at the same time and the nation can continue ... gotta think about the big picture.
almost everyone will survive covid-19 and those who will die will be due to prior health issues and/or personal neglect.
the USA swine flu (another form of virus) killed an estimated 675,000 in 1918 and 13,000 in 2009.
As of March 25th, CDC report for COVID-19 in the USA ...
Total cases: 54,453
Total deaths: 737
Jurisdictions reporting cases: 54 (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and US Virgin Islands)
Seasonal flu in the USA as reported via the CDC - just look at these numbers and put that into perspective with covid-19 ...
CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza. The number of influenza-associated illnesses that occurred last season was similar to the estimated number of influenza-associated illnesses during the 2012–2013 influenza season when an estimated 34 million people had symptomatic influenza illness.
that too many state governments have shut down NICS, gun and ammo stores and sales, shooting ranges, is reprehensible and unconstitutional. these tyrant politicos need to be taken to task for their un-American actions. that's already happened in several states and at least two have recanted and removed those illegal anti-gun restrictions. not so far with NJ as it's overwhelmingly a blue state.
this is all the tip of the iceberg looming ahead in these ideological dark times for the USA.
be smart, be safe, be well, be armed.
