TOW Hawken patch box update
« on: January 01, 2022, 07:09:05 PM »
Greetings all,
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and is looking forward to a Happy New Year. Just updating a post I started, the TOW Hawken patch box spring. I've been fitting the hinge together, when installed the lid opens down and asit turns out the spring is mounted flat in the floor of the cavity with the dog leg extending up to engage the lever on the lid. If installed at proper depth the spring will apply pressure to the lever in both the open and closed position.

That's what I put on the Hodgepodge rifle.  I couldn't get the spring to put enough tension on the lid, and finally put a coil spring under it to make the lid more secure in the closed position.

I just removed the patchbox lid, placed the coil spring under the leaf spring and replaced the lid.  The spring came from a kit to rebuild the bathroom faucet.  I'll try to get a photo of it tomorrow although I can't guarantee anything will be showing....  :laffing

Truly a feat of engineering for necessity! It's awesome if it works out well! That looks like tis working out as planned! Cheers!!
