Since Jim is only using the hard red heartwood, I see no need for stain. Besides, that heartwood will darken over time all on its own.
Well I guess I'll be getting some truoil and an abrasive pad. I certainly like that maple woodsrunner. I see that the reason for the lye was apparently to get a matte muddy finish ?? anyway I like a satin(ish) finish Thanks RobKevin
How 'bout that barrel ? Leave it clean n shiny , blue, brown ? I'd like to strive for a fairly HC gun which seems to lean towards " in the white" . Thinking I may brown it for hunting purposes but that's not a given . Kevin
