Thought it might be nice to have a monthly thread to discuss our monthly TMA Silhouette Results. I'll kick it off since I shot my April targets this morning and got my scores posted. As soon as I receive each participants results as the targets come in to me, I will get your scores posted as well. However, don't wait to make comments if you'd like to after you shot your monthly targets as we're always happy to hear from you all!
Here we go...
As I said, I got out this morning and had high hopes. I wasn't disappointed on my 3 shots at the Chicken as I actually hit it all three times - boy I was feeling good until my first shot at the Ram when it struck at least 1-1/2 inches below his belly! Wow!!! What the heck happened was going through my mind??? I reloaded and took my 2nd shot and hit the Ram and this time with the ball striking solid at the center of his middle rear which certainly would have toppled him had he been made of metal, and wounded him had he been real..... (still scratching my head on the first shot at the Ram) these targets will (I believe) humble all of us throughout our shooting season - but dang they're fun to shoot at!
Okay, things had to get better on the Pig, I thought,,, not so! First shot a big fat zip! The edge of the ball hit about 3/16" in the white away from his lower front leg... I'm beginning to think, "man, I was counting on sweeping the Ram and Pig, they seem like the easier targets - what's going on?"
I reload for my second shot knowing full well I can't leave those 1st shots behind me at the dang Ram & Pig - but also knowing I have to,,, so I toe the line and quite honestly I'm still reliving those missed shots... Somehow I pulled myself together and managed to hit the Pig above the rear of his front leg. Got a little confidence back as headed for the Turkey...
Well, I don't how I did it, but I did managed to get all three shots on that Turkey over a vertical spread of 3-1/8 inches from the head to the lower chest. I think that was only because I accepted my mind set of, "ah, just aim and shoot." All in all,,, I really like this game of TMA Silhouette!
Remember, you can darken the center of your targets if you'd like to. I use a chisel tip sharpie for mine. just stay inside the lines. 25 yards offhand - flint or cap lock. Today I used my cap lock, .45 caliber with a .445 spit-patched ball and 55 grains of 3fg Goex.
