Getting ready to go the the Atascadero RDV tomorrow.  Going through my shooting bags to see how they are fairing.
Big disappointment for the .45 flinter.  No .440 or .445 ball.  And I had not cast any before.
Guess what I am going to do now?  First thing is to hope I have one of those size moulds.  Then I will heat up the pot.
Went through my powder supply and found cans of Fg, Ffg, Fffg and Ffffg.  I think I will try to sell some of those tomorrow.  What is left will go into the back of the truck and will go with me to the Rendezvous' we will be attending in May and June.  Hungry Horse, Coeur d'Alene, Moscow and Colfax.  I anticipate not bringing any home.
Now, what did I do with my percussion caps?
Darn, I sure do hate this last minute stuff.  But whose fault is it?  Me.

Ah John we've all been there.
The wife and I are driving to Michigan in a few days .
Amazed at all the things we don't have ready or need to do before we leave.
Just be happy you're at rdv .
Right after we get back from Michigan, I'm off to dark horse in Montana for memorial day rdv .
Then after that it's the great Coeur D' Alene muzzleloaders rdv
 Looking forward to seeing you.

Taking my son and nephew up to camp by fort Robinson after work.
Just 1 night, but should be a good time. We go back into the wilderness area called soldier creek. Some decent trout fishing and a lot of hiking to be had. Low of 30 tonight is all. So cold enough to notice but not be miserable..
They've been asking since January for a cold camp, and I didn't wanna have to pack camp at 1am to come home with cold boys 😂😆

I've been looking for a 3 speed bicycle like I had as a kid.  Found one on Ebay for relatively cheap, here in Ohio.  It's supposed to be here by the 12th. It will be interesting to see what it really is like; the photos showed that is in relatively good shape.  I'm not a fan of the derailleur gear system, the Sturmey-Archer inside the hub is much less fragile in my opinion.

Years ago (like decades ago, actually) I had a Bess.  I really liked it, but silly me, I let it go down the road.  If I still had all the guns I let go away, I would need a room to keep them in.

I also like big round balls, and the .735's for the Bess are not the biggest either.  I really got a kick (pardon the pun) out of the .980's I shot in the 4 bores.

Oh, and don't forget, the Brits expected one to be able to load and fire once every 13 seconds.  We would expect no less from you.  And you needed to have 4 teeth in the front of your mouth (to be able to bite the end off the paper cartridge.)

Enjoy!!

Got to the rendezvous in Cyr, MT yesterday.
Found a pretty good spot and set up in the tin tipi section.  Happy to see there is a pretty good contingent of folks from the Coeur d'Alene club here.  Kinda like old home week.
I shot the rifle trail walk today, and believe me, the first place shooter has no worries about any competition from me.  After several problems with my PA Hunter I decided to finish the rifle match with my TVA Tennessee flint lock rifle.
Tomorrow, there is going to be a ceremony for Matt Dennison of North Star West fame.  Some of his ashes will be shot downrange out of a cannon.  Also, there will be a salute from all who have NSW guns.  I plan to participate with my 12 bore tradegun.
Right now it is whiskey o'clock and I am enjoying it immensely.  Then steak for dinner and who knows what the night will bring.
After wearing my Dyer mocs all day today, my left foot is protesting.  Screw the point for dress in the matches tomorrow.  Regular shoes it is.
Kevin, where the heck are you?

Officially getting "involved" in Rev War reenactment, joined the NJ 3rd Regiment "Jersey Blues" and in the long process of getting "kitted up" (meaning, spending a boat load of ca$hola on period clothing and accoutrements, which includes the continued Brown Bess build).

Well I really wanted to get out and shoot some of these targets I have stacking up with no holes in them.
I figured since I missed April's shoot, I would just do it for fun while I knocked on Mays this weekend. My son's  ammo came in for his new modern rifle and we were just going to have a nice day of shooting paper and prairie dogs. But alas it has rained and rained and rained. Which in Western Nebraska, I will not complain about too much as we are high desert , plus in an extreme 5+ year drought. But it is cutting into some fun stuff. This was kind of my birthday weekend since I've gotta work all week anyways. We've had almost 2 inches since Friday evening here at my house of nonstop drizzle.
I'm glad it's watering the garden, but I wish the sun would peek through a little and tell these seeds they can poke out as well..

The Saphire Mountain Men Rendezvous in Cyr, MT finished up today.  It was fantastic, as usual.  I attended two years ago and just had to come back.  These boys really know how to put on a great time.  Very well organized and carried out.
On Sunday morning, I was walking back to my camp after attending the memorial for Matt Denison (North Star West) when I was accosted by some furry faced fellow, who asked me if I used a coffee cup for a powder measure.  Wise guy.  It turns out this guy was none other than Riley Snider.  Who'd a guessed he would show up there.  As soon as I figure out how to download the photo, I will post it somewhere here.

Back from Rondy Monday eve, great time!  111 shooters!, lots of old timers came out if the woodwork bringing their rondy stuff for sale, had to make 3 trips out to the atm! picked up 12 tins of 2& 3f 1990's goex and 3 tins of 3f elephant powder for 10 bux a can, scored some full tins of caps 5 old remington and 10 cci magnum's at 5 bux a tin ( all serviceable), a  TC Patriot in 36 for a song, and some leather clothing, a couple knives and a menagerie of smalls ie ball starters, priming horn , antler powder measures, 4 unfinished scrim grade  horns with real nice right hand twists etc., a 14 x 24 marquis tent with poles, ropes and stakes, Bought it Friday and it went home with somebody else Sunday, didn't even have to drag it home, love that! SWMBO bought 4 capotes, all in all in was an expensive weekend that should yield a decent profit hopefully by this time next year, sorry we were to busy at the trade blanket to take pics or even shoot! I had a return visit to the ortho yesterday to pump some more juice into both knees, that was PHUN!
