Do you throw a homemade knife and hawk or do you use something like an H&B or something else? The knife I use is a copy of the one I bought from  TOW,  but it's made from a blade off a sawmill.

Tom, (as for myself) I've been using H&B throwing knives and Hawks since the '80's (maybe even the late 70's... I've had them for such a long time - they just hold up and work... 'course, sometimes I have to replace a hawk handle,,, but if one uses them, who doesn't... LOL!!!

KDubs did a fine job with the leather scales on that Bowie (throwing bowie)! I've seen that style of knives used at the throwing blocks... Ought 'a be good fun!!!

The answer to the question is yes.
The one I usually use started as a leaf spring off a '57 Chevy.  I have also used H & B and Hawken Shop knives.  The verdict is, I shouldn't quit my day job.

All these pictures and talk about knives and throwing makes me want to throw, but the weather here in PA just won't permit it .Kevin your knives look good and I know you'll enjoy knife and hawk throwing. Good luck and I hope you have a lot of success with that.

Thanks all.
I did get to toss a few , hawk and knife.
Sticks ok but not deep, weight of the knife makes it fall out.
Guess I'll need to thin the shoulder a bit.

The hawk I modified with a cross , using a dremel.

When it's my turn to throw against you, I'll just forfeit. When I had the shoulder changed on my hawk it helped tremendously. Dremel  tool work looks good too. Keep up the good work.

If your hawk blocks are cut like in the picture / your knife and hawk stick a whole lot better into the wood. Though the wood being used comes into play as well... :shake

Cool pic, thanks .
My throwin blocks are buried in snow at the moment, temps dropping to 0* over the next couple days so they will have to wait.

The hawk blocks the CdA club had were seemingly made out of rubber.  I swear, the hawks seemed to bounce back as many times as they stuck.  :Doh! Happily, about 3 years ago, they became firewood.  :applaud
